You spot a Bombardier, slot a Pop Trigger, and expect a clean hit. Instead, the device skitters off at a strange angle while the ARC stomps away. That moment explains why the best ARC Raiders Items advice for Pop Triggers has less to do with aim and more to do with controlling the floor, the target, and your escape route.

Start With the Room, Not the Enemy

Pop Triggers roll briefly before detonating, so every bump, slope, doorway edge, and piece of debris can change the result. Open ground gives the device too many possible paths. A smooth interior floor gives it one useful lane.

Before you deploy, stand square to the target and check the full route. Keep the device close enough to reach the enemy quickly, but not so close that you eat the blast or lose cover. In my experience, moving a few steps to find a cleaner angle produces more damage than throwing several extra devices from a bad position.

Clear Spotters and other distractions before starting.
Wait for the ARC to pause or reach level ground.
Test one Pop Trigger before committing the rest.
Keep a retreat path open behind your position.
Stop spending devices once the objective is complete.

Pick Targets That Help You

Bombardiers and Bastions are the easiest large targets because their bodies give the blast more room to connect. A damaged Bombardier leg can create an especially useful window. Shredders become much better inside a small room, while a Leaper is only attractive after a tower, stairwell, or doorway limits its movement.

Small flying ARC units usually make poor targets. They can leave the blast area before detonation, and the same problem affects fast ground enemies crossing broken terrain. The target isn't the only thing you are choosing; you are choosing a movement pattern and a surface that make the device predictable.

Three Routes, Three Different Payoffs

Goal
Target
Best Setup
Main Concern
Project damage
Large ground ARC
Flat floor near cover
Missed rolls
Steady rating
Bombardier or Bastion
Clear lane and cover
Incoming fire
High score
Matriarch
Exposed core at close range
Raid failure
The Matriarch has the highest ceiling because its exposed core offers a large, durable damage area with fewer escape routes for the rolling devices. That makes it a strong score-chasing option, not an automatic best choice. You need a big supply, a safe approach, enough protection for the encounter, and a clean extraction afterward. A modest project requirement rarely justifies that much risk.

The Supply and Loadout Check

Pop Triggers come from destroyed Pops, and indoor routes with frequent Pop activity are useful for building a stockpile. Water Treatment and its connected corridors on Dam Battlegrounds have been reported as practical collection areas. Each inventory stack holds three, so a high-score attempt can consume more space than expected; keep your combat gear sensible and leave room for the devices.

Don't enter with a vague plan to hit whatever appears first. Decide before the raid: Bombardier for a repeatable open-area attempt, Shredders for a confined-room setup, Leaper for a restricted interior, or Matriarch for maximum scoring. At least in my experience, this single decision prevents more wasted loot than any small change to the build.

What Usually Ruins the Run

The classic mistake is repeating the same throw after the first device veers left. That first roll is information. It tells you how the local surface behaves, so adjust your angle, distance, or elevation before releasing another. Also watch for other players: repeated explosions reveal your position, and a successful ARC encounter can become a PvP problem before extraction.

Once you have enough damage for Phantom Targets or the desired rating, leave. Chasing another few points can turn a clean run into a lost loadout, especially after a loud Matriarch fight. The Pop Trigger rewards patience, not frantic DPS; build the room in your favor, spend devices in controlled groups, and extract with the result secured. For more item details and planning, the ARC Items listing is a useful reference before your next raid.
